This Privacy Policy explains what information Karaoke Social ("the App", "we", "our") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. The App is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], a [STATE] limited liability company, with a registered mailing address at [REGISTERED ADDRESS] (the "Company").

1. Information you provide
When you create an account or use the App, you may provide:
- Account: email address and password (passwords are hashed by our auth provider and never stored in plaintext).
- Profile: full name, stage name, bio, profile photo, favorite genres, and optional payment handles (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal) for tips.
- Home address (optional): used solely to gate location-based privacy features near where you live. We geocode the address to coordinates and never display the address to other users.
- User-generated content: posts, photos, comments, direct messages, venue-chat messages, ratings (of singers, KJs, venues, and individual performances), and "Rate Me" video recordings.
- KJ registration (optional): if you register as a Karaoke Jockey, the system you operate and the venues you claim.
- Support correspondence: any messages you send us about the App.
2. Information collected automatically
- Device location: with your permission, the App uses GPS to find nearby karaoke venues, attribute posts and comments to the venue you are at, and keep you connected to a venue chat while you are there. On Android, the App uses a foreground service for venue presence so the chat remains active when the screen is off. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; some features will not work without it.
- Push notification token: if you allow notifications, your device's push token is stored so we can send you alerts (mentions, friend requests, rating activity, venue events, etc.).
- Diagnostic data: app version, device model, OS version, and crash logs, used to debug issues.
3. How we use your information
- Provide the core App features (sign-in, profiles, ratings, posts, messages, venue chat, Rate Me).
- Show you nearby karaoke venues, live activity, and leaderboards relevant to your location.
- Notify you of activity that involves you (mentions, friend requests, ratings on your performances, etc.).
- Detect and prevent abuse, spam, and Terms-of-Service violations.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Privacy controls inside the App
- Private Profile: hides your profile from non-friends.
- Display Full Name: when off, your full name is not shown publicly.
- Show Ratings on Profile: toggles whether your aggregate ratings are shown publicly.
- Hide Post Location Blip: stops new posts from being attached to a precise location.
- Hide Comment Location Blip: stops new comments from being attached to a precise location.
- Hide Posts From Home (default on): suppresses location attribution when you are within ~150 m of your home address.
- Block Users: blocked users cannot message you or see your activity.
5. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with the service providers we rely on to run the App:
- Supabase, Inc. — database, authentication, storage, and serverless functions. Hosts your account, profile, posts, ratings, and messages.
- Mux, Inc. — hosts and streams Rate Me video recordings.
- Mapbox, Inc. — map tiles for the Venues map.
- Google LLC — geocoding the optional home address; Firebase Hosting for this website; Android push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Apple Inc. — iOS push notifications via APNs.
- RevenueCat, Inc. — subscription and in-app-purchase management.
Each provider processes data only as needed to provide its service to us, and is bound by its own privacy and security commitments.
We may disclose information if required by law (e.g. a valid subpoena) or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
6. Saving recordings to your phone
If you tick "Save to phone" on a Rate Me capture, the App writes the recording to your device's photo library using the permission you granted to your photo library. We do not access your photo library for any other purpose.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at privacy@karaokesocial.app and we will delete it.
8. Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is soft for a grace window (configurable per system settings) so you can recover your account by signing back in; after the grace period, your account and personal data are hard-deleted. Some content you posted publicly (e.g. ratings, comments) may be retained in aggregated or anonymized form to preserve other users' history.
9. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including TLS in transit and encryption at rest where supported by our service providers. No system is perfectly secure; if you become aware of a security issue, contact us.
10. International users
The App is operated from the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States and the countries where our service providers operate.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. California, the EU/UK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@karaokesocial.app. Most rights can also be exercised directly inside the App (Profile Edit, Privacy Settings, Delete Account).
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced inside the App.
